International Conference Franco Basaglia: Beyond the Borders

The third day of the international conference Franco Basaglia: Beyond the Borders – Practices of Freedom, held as part of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica–Gorizia GO! 2025, focuses on the global influence of Basaglia’s experience and the contemporary realities of mental health.
The day’s program will take place at the EPICenter and Super Osmica in Nova Gorica and includes a series of panel discussions, workshops, and debates addressing deinstitutionalization reforms, new care models, the role of art and culture, and human rights advocacy in mental health.
The evening will culminate in a celebratory event at Europe Square, where participants will present a symbolic “Document for Europe.”
The conference brings together professionals, researchers, artists, activists, and people with lived experience to reaffirm freedom as a foundation of therapeutic practice.
