More and more control is being implemented on the inner borders of the European Union, and closing national borders seems like a solution to all modern problems. Where can we still find the spirit of European unification, though? Perhaps on the borders themselves, where decades ago, during the Cold War, border regimes were weakened to the point at which we saw borders as the most porous divisions among countries and political systems.
