GO! 2025 ob dnevu žena: poklon ustvarjalkam

od 27. 2. 2026 do 8. 2. 2026 Interpretacijski center EPIC

After the lively anniversary of the start of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorica, which we celebrated on the occasion of the Slovenian cultural holiday, the cities are preparing a series of events dedicated to women and their creative and social power on the occasion of the upcoming International Women's Day. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all the girls and women who have contributed to the implementation and running of the European Capital of Culture project, and there are many of them!

The events will begin on Friday, February 27, at 5 p.m. with an evening dedicated to the women of Alessandria. We will host the University of Nova Gorica, which will present its new monograph for the first time: Z besedami stkana bližina: pisma družin Šušmelj in Kosič med Egiptom in Primorsko (A closeness woven with words: letters from the Šušmelj and Kosič families between Egypt and Primorska). It was edited by Dr. Katja Mihurko and Dr. Milan Mrđenović and was recently published by the University of Nova Gorica Press. The book offers a valuable insight into the intimate worlds of individuals divided between Primorska and Egypt in the first half of the 20th century. The evening will be hosted by: Sonja Kosič, Dr. Katja Mihurko, Dr. Milan Mrđenović, Dr. Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik, Boženka Jelarčič, and Sabina Vostner.

We will continue on Thursday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the EPICentro hall with a literary and musical evening featuring singers and authors from the Mi2 group – Tonč and Dimek. In a space called the European platform for interpreting the 20th century, which also offers a reflection on the future, the authors will present their intertwining of literary interpretation and acoustic concert, recognizable humor, and relaxed interpretation.

On Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, in the GONG Gallery, managed by the co-creator of the EPK space Nataša Kovšca, you can visit the exhibition by Valerie Cozzarini and Ateja Tutte JULKA: Kaj je v imenu? (What's in a name?), created in collaboration with the Slovenian Animation Film Association and in connection with the EPK Animation Laboratory and Center project.

On Sunday, March 8, at EPICentro, there will also be a guided tour of the exhibition The City on the Border through the Stories of Witnesses, led by Dr. Kaja Širok.

This will be followed by an evening event entitled Strong Women in Culture: The Power of Words and Performance, organized by the MinK Tolmin association with the important collaboration of EPK's Sanja Popov Leban.
