Aleksandar Hemon in Nova Gorica

23. 6. 2026 19:00 - 21:00 Interpretacijski center EPIC - Dvorana EPIC

The City of Books Festival and Goga Publishing invite you to a literary evening with Aleksandar Hemon, one of the most important contemporary writers from the region of the former Yugoslavia. To mark the release of the Slovenian translation of the novel *The World and Everything in It*, translated by Irena Duša, the author will speak about his writing, history, language, and literature that emerges at the intersections of cultures, wars, and migration. The novel *The World and Everything in It* is a rich and moving narrative that begins in Sarajevo in 1914 and, through the fates of its characters, explores questions of love, identity, belonging, and survival in a time of great historical upheaval. With his characteristic narrative power, Hemon weaves together an intimate story and an epic historical arc, creating one of his most resonant works to date. Andraž Gombač will be in conversation with Aleksandar Hemon.

The event is the result of a collaboration between the City of Books Festival, Goga Publishing, and GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture. The event is co-funded by the Public Agency for Books and the Municipality of Nova Gorica.
