A discussion will take place with interesting guests on how confronting the past and understanding historical memory can contribute to a more cohesive society and influence the mental health of young people; we will also reflect on how young people, through dialogue, exchange of experiences, and inclusion, co-create a culture of peace and prevent the recurrence of social divisions. Participants will include:
- Dr. Katja Hrobat Virloget, an anthropologist who breaks taboos and silence
- Uroš Dokl, a curator and educator who is deeply involved in educating young people on the topics of peace and migration
- Dr. Matjaž Lunaček, M.D., a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and writer
- Representatives of the Children’s Parliament: Zoja Arčon Radonjić and Lukas Curk from the 9th grade of Frana Erjavca Elementary School in Nova Gorica
- Representative of the students of Nova Gorica High School: Erik Osojnik
The roundtable will be moderated by Dr. Kaja Širok, a historian and expert on border issues.
The event is intended for elementary and middle school students, high school students, college students, representatives of schools, youth centers, community colleges, social work centers, and anyone interested in this topic.
At 12:00 PM, participants in the roundtable will be treated to a guided tour of the exhibition “City on the Border.”
Due to the limited number of participants for the tour and to facilitate the organization of the roundtable, we are accepting registrations at the following address until May 8, 2026.
This event, part of the "Youth in the Landscape of Memory" project, is organized by the project partners Epiona Institute, the Walk of Peace in the Soča Region Foundation, the Intermunicipal Association of Friends of Youth for the Goriška Region, and Cona b.p., in collaboration with EPICenter and GO! 2025.
