On June 20, 1945, an agreement was signed in Devin near Trieste that established a temporary interim border zone between Yugoslavia and Italy—a provisional administration of the area was set up, and the territory was divided into Zone A, under the administration of the Allied forces, and Zone B, administered by VUJA. How did people experience this period? We will delve into the memories, stories, and hopes of the people of Goriška in Zone A, learn about the “čerine” and “une sz turbanti,” pass through Outpost Control, and individually piece together what home meant after September 1947.
